Snap to point for symbols
#1
Hello all,
I am trying to draw some symbols for electrical construction drawings.
I downloaded and played with the symbols Sparky created and liked the basepoint or snap to feature he used. How do you do this?
I added points to my drawing and tried to creat a base point, prior to creating a new symbol, but it still wants to snap to the center of the objects.

Thanks for looking,
Mike

Mike,

After you create the symbol drawing, "select" the portion you want to use as a symbol file, then place your base point (go to "select tab" then click on the "set the base point for selected objects". Don't use the point set feature within the "Point Tab", that is for something completely different). Left click on the exact point that you want use as your base point, go to the edit menu at the top and choose either cut/copy to place the selection on your clipboard. Now the symbol can be pasted into your symbol library.

Have Fun!Smile

Mike, welcome to the site. I hope those symbols come in handy for you. Chris did a fine job explaining how to set the base point. Feel free to ask away should you not fully understand it.
