Got answer for MS.

You cannot turn a Group off.  They are always displayed (as long as the objects in the group are on layers that are ON).

Sincerely yours,

Midnight Software, Inc.
With that being said, the best way to organize groups would

be by placing each group on an individual layer? I assume there is not a contextual menu for groups.
Can you recommend any books teaching DeltaCad?

The SELECT and EDIT  tabs are the only way to manipulate or edit Groups.
As you probably already learned how to make a Group from objects.
Then you can use the functions in the SELECT tab to rotate, copy/move, mirror.

You can go to the EDIT tab and make changes to the objects in a Group with the Edit Picture button and all groups with the same Group name will show the changes.

Most features of DeltaCad use the tabs.
As for learning DeltaCad, there is the Help in Help Menu and there are some YouTube tutorial videos from one of the DeltaCad User Group member ( i44troll ) and there is a tutorial section in this forum and links to the YouTube videos.

I think most people learn DeltaCad by experimenting and just playing around with the different features.

You can also use the UNGROUP macro within the macro tab to ungroup all groups on your working layer. Here's a link to a tutorial on group nesting, which you may find very useful if you are drawing several identical objects and want to make changes to just one of those objects that will automatically change every identical object in that group.

Hi GT,

Welcome to the DeltaCad Users Group.

As you gathered from the earlier replies there is no existing menu to list existing "Groups".

I do think that it would be a good idea to have such a menu. If placed in the menu bar one could select a "Groups" tab and get a clickable drop down menu of existing groups, click on the desired group and either have that group brought directly into view or have that group's "Edit" menu open. Either one or both would be a good suggestion to Midnight Software for an upgrade or enhancement.

Maybe next time you're over at M.S. you might drop a suggestion.  : )

There is, in the option tab, an option to either locate the position of each group as well as "count" the inventory of grouped objects. The latter would be useful for counting multiple objects needed to complete a project. let's say you were designing an auditorium and you created a chair, grouped the chair, then arrayed that chair so that the room was filled with chairs. You don't want to waste your time counting the chairs so you would choose this feature to do the counting for you.

Go to OPTIONS>EXTRACT GROUP DATA for this feature. (notice that you can exclude any group from the list by adding an *asterisk at the beginning of the grouped name)

Here is an example
